Thank you so much for your participation in the 15th Packaging Innovations Trade Fair!
Two days, nearly 100 companies presenting their offers in 6 thematic zones, several hours of presentations and lectures, 2 stages, a unique exhibition of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, the final of the 12th Student Zone contest, an expert debate on the deposit system in Poland and hundreds of exchanged business cards and handshakes – this is a brief summary of the 15th International Packaging Trade Fair Packaging Innovations, which took place at EXPO Kraków on September 20-21.
For the 15th time, the Packaging Innovations fair proved that despite numerous changes, one thing remains unchanged - the need for direct meetings. – For us, direct relationships are the most important. Instead of driving several dozen or sometimes even several hundred kilometres for one meeting, here we can have several dozen conversations over two days. This is a huge time saving - emphasized Joanna Strzyga from Polish Security Printing Works. Edyta Kopycinska shared a similar opinion from POLO Handels GMBH - I believe that face-to-face meetings are of great value and cannot be replaced by network contacts. The Packaging Innovations International Packaging Trade Fair organisers fully agree and today invite you to the 16th edition, which will take place on October 9-10, 2024 at EXPO Kraków.

Uniqueness
The organizers' goal was to create a comfortable, modern space for establishing contacts, gaining knowledge and getting inspiration. A place combining business and education, focusing on quality and a wide range of products. Did it work? Let the best confirmation be the words of the participants - Fairs such as these are a place that brings together stakeholders from various areas: sellers and buyers, packaging companies and internet platforms selling products online. Here everyone will find something for themselves. I walked around the various stands and I am very happy because I see their diversity - said Alicja Bieszyńska, Team Manager in the Delivery Experience team at Allegro, at the fair. Edyta Kopycinska, Sales Manager from POLO Handels GMBH, did not hide her satisfaction with the participation - My impressions are absolutely fantastic. First of all, participating in the fair was an outstanding opportunity to meet customers whom we sometimes simply do not have time to see. Secondly, if we are considering the implementation of innovative products - and I believe that paper-based packaging materials are one of them - then this is an even greater opportunity to be able to explain to customers various secrets, mainly regarding environmental issues.
For many exhibitors, business goals were as important as image goals - We are here to promote our new prints - secured labels. We want our customers to know that the Polish Security Printing Works offers not only documents and banknotes but also a lot of commercial prints that we have been producing for many years. Through participation, we wanted to show that PWPW is a friendly and flexible company - emphasized Joanna Strzyga, Head of the Security Print Sales Department at Polish Security Printing Works.
The highest standard of services
Quality is the keyword of this year's edition. The organizers of the Packaging Innovations Trade Fair made every effort to ensure that participants felt taken care of at every stage. This was appreciated by the exhibitors, who, like Magdalena Michta, Sales Department Coordinator at FoodPack, emphasized - First of all, I am satisfied with the team involved in the preparation of the fair. I appreciate how committed they are. I was completely calm because I was informed about what was going to happen at every stage of preparation. There was never a moment when I didn't receive the information I wanted. Importantly, I was not transferred from one person to another, which unfortunately often happens. A truly great team, I wish they were like that at every fair.

I will certainly remember many interesting meetings from the Packaging Innovations Fair, both with current partners and companies with which we have not cooperated before. Today, for example, we had a meeting with the presidents of the Latvian and Ukrainian packaging organizations and with a representative of the EPIC European Packaging Institutes Consortium. Most of the meetings we hold at this fair are at the international level.

Every change is an experiment, and in the case of moving the fair from Warsaw to Krakow, it is a long-term experiment. So I asked partner companies that exhibited at the Packaging Innovations Fair about their impressions and I can say that the opinions were very good - the exhibitors gained a lot of really valuable contacts and I think this is the best answer to the question of whether the change of location was right. I maintain that it was a good move.

The whole world at your fingertips
The strength of the Packaging Innovations Fair is the international nature of the event. The fair was visited by guests including: from Belgium, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Germany, Turkey, Hungary, and Great Britain - interested in establishing cooperation with Polish companies. – I will definitely remember many interesting meetings from the Packaging Innovations Fair, both with current partners and companies with which we have not cooperated before. Today, for example, we had a meeting with the presidents of the Latvian and Ukrainian packaging organizations and with a representative of the EPIC European Packaging Institutes Consortium. Most of the meetings we hold at these fairs are at the international level - summed up Krzysztof Niczyporuk, President of the Polish Chamber of Packaging. Local customers who came to Krakow from different parts of Poland did not disappoint either - Our goal was to meet large companies from various industries related to the food sector. We wanted to meet not only the clients we are already talking to but also acquire new ones, and we succeeded. People we were interested in came. Huge companies came even from the other end of Poland, which is a big surprise for us and we are very pleased - adds Magdalena Michta from FoodPack.
Time of changes
The anniversary edition brought many changes: a new, modern exhibition space, new thematic zones, a large group of new exhibitors and, above all, new opportunities related to the change of location from Warsaw to Krakow. Exhibitors and partners did not hide their satisfaction - Every change is an experiment, and in the case of moving the fair from Warsaw to Krakow, it is a long-term experiment. So I asked partner companies that exhibited at the Packaging Innovations Fair about their impressions and I can say that the reception is very good - the exhibitors gained a lot of really valuable contacts and I think this is the best answer to the question of whether the change of location was right. I maintain that it was a good move - summed up Krzysztof Skrobot, Director of the Polish Chamber of Flexographers.
However, the changes do not concern the organization of the fair itself - they are clearly visible in the packaging industry itself. – A lot is changing in the packaging market. Changes are taking place on the legislative and technological side. In my opinion, the competitive advantage of the Polish packaging industry should be innovation. These are no longer the times when we can only compete on price and mass production. We have to compete with innovations, and this also requires expenditure from, for example, European and national funds - emphasized Krzysztof Niczyporuk, President of the Polish Chamber of Packaging.
Wymiana wiedzy i doświadczeń
The challenges facing the packaging market were the main topic of meetings with experts, which gathered numerous interested parties on the Main Stage and the Agora Stage - the new presentation zone. They shared their knowledge and experience, among others: Philipp Richter - Spies Packaging, , Piotr Podsiadło - EY Law, EY Polska, Wojciech Gruszewski - Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology, Magdalena Cieślak - Graphic Packaging International, Marcin Radomski - Graham Packaging, Piotr Dymała - Polska Wytwórnia Papierów Wartościowych S.A. Joanna Olszak – IGI FOOD LAW. The lecturers shared their knowledge and stayed longer after the presentations to answer in detail the numerous questions of the participants.
New products at this year's fair were presentations called SuperDuets: Paweł Frej and Bartek Gostkowski from HiBrands, Alicja Bieszyńska from Allegro and Demetriusz Janowski from Schumacher Packaging.
Experts debate "Deposit Return System - the Polish case: Do we have a chance to succeed?"
On the second day of the Packaging Innovations Trade Fair, an important debate for the industry took place - "Deposit Return System - the Polish case: Do we have a chance to succeed?". The topic was discussed comprehensively: from the legal perspective, food and beverage producers, retailers, packaging return solution providers and consumers themselves. The debate began with a presentation by Marián Áč - Managing Director of Správec zálohového systému n.o., who discussed the effects of implementing the deposit system in Slovakia. An introduction to the specificity of the Polish Act on the deposit system, preceded by a summary of its legislative process, was made by Agnieszka Wierzbicka from EY LAW, EY Polska. The debate moderated by Agnieszka Sznyk from the Institute of Innovation and Responsible Development INNOWO was attended by Andrzej Gantner from the Polish Federation of Food Producers Association of Producers, the above-mentioned Agnieszka Wierzbicka from EY Law, EY Polska and Anna Sapota from the TOMRA Group.
