100th Anniversary of the Cieszyn Factory
The unique anniversary of the "Olza" Factory in Cieszyn, owned by the Mondelez International group, inspired the creation of a remarkable exhibition documenting the rich confectionery traditions of both the factory and the region. Since its establishment in 1924, the factory has focused on the production of various confectionery products. Today, it has become a key center for the production of chocolate wafers for many well-known and popular brands, including Prince Polo and Milka. The exhibition showcases the evolution of packaging over the past century through a carefully curated collection.
Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the variety of products that left the production lines of the Cieszyn factory, including waffles and dragees. One of the most recognizable products is undoubtedly Prince Polo, introduced to the market in 1955. Since its creation, the packaging of these wafers has evolved, limited and occasional editions have appeared, as well as specially designed packaging, e.g. for Arab countries. The exhibition will also present other wafers produced under different names in Cieszyn.
The exhibition shows various styles and techniques of design and characteristic features of printing processes used over the years. Starting with letterpress and lithography, moving on to photolithography, early offset, and ending with today's flexographic packaging printed on foil.
This exhibition was made possible thanks to the dedication of the employees of the "Olza" Factory in Cieszyn and the collaboration between the factory’s resources and the collection of prints from the Museum of Printing in Cieszyn.
The initiator and curator of the exhibition is Urszula Bracka.
